Abstract

The article is based on the report "Teenage subculture is a zone of potential risks of extremism and xenophobia" presented at the plenary meeting of the Third All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference on Developmental Psychology "On the threshold of adulthood". The phenomenon of teenage subculture is considered in terms of social extremism and xenophobia. We argue that in this context, it is advisable not to talk about teenage subculture in general, but to differentiate subcultures of separate teen groups that differ greatly. We discuss the phenomenon of child abandonment in modern Russia and social orphans as a special group of social risk with a particular subculture. The role of media in shaping teenage subculture is analyzed, as well as its influence on the development of adolescent aggression and teenage extremism risk.
