Features of moral judgments and social intelligence of students

Abstract

The aim of the research presented in this paper was to consider the features of the moral consciousness of students and the analysis of relationships between indicators of social intelligence and sociomoral maturity level. Participants were students aged 18 to 20 years enrolled in various faculties of the Russian State Agricultural University. The study used the Guilford–Sullivan Test of Social Intelligence and Sociomoral Reflection Measure – Short Form Objective (SRM-SFO) questionnaire by J. Gibbs, K. Basinger, & D. Fuller, modified by A.A. Khvostov. The article presents the results of a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data obtained. We describe the features of the moral consciousness of students, determine the average moral judgments maturity level. A direct relationship is revealed between the index of sociomoral maturity and ability to quickly and correctly understand the speech expression and different meanings of the same verbal messages, depending on the nature of the relationship of people and context of the communication situation. The results can be a starting point in the development of measures for the development and correction of the moral consciousness of the developing individual.
