Abstract

Context and relevance. The simultaneous presence of three to five age cohorts within a single organizational space makes intergenerational tension in contemporary organizations increasingly systemic, raising the need for a theoretical understanding of the nature and mechanisms of intergenerational conflicts. Objective. The article aims to provide a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of intergenerational conflicts in modern organizations. Methods and materials. The study is based on methods of conceptual analysis, generalization and a systems approach to understanding theoretical concepts of intergenerational conflicts. Results. A multidimensional classification of types of intergenerational conflict is proposed, based on five criteria. In addition, the determinants of such conflicts are systematized across three levels of analysis: macrosocial, organizational-managerial, and socio-psychological. Conclusions. The findings are of practical relevance for the development of HR tools aimed at diagnosing and managing generational heterogeneity in contemporary organizations.
