Abstract

The present article discloses historical establishment of the institution of liability for violation of copyright in Russia. The establishment of the institution of copyright protection is connected with the development of publishing business in the Russian Empire, and has its nation-specific features. The mechanism of copyright protection evolved not only through regulation of relationships between authors and publishers, but also through establishment of responsibility for violation of copyright. Presently, in Russia there are three mechanisms for protection of copyright, which are realized by applying measures of liability for violation of copyright.
