A new issue of the journal «Autism and Developmental Disorders» (No. 1, 2026) has been published, focusing on contemporary research and practice of support for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The issue brings together empirical studies and practice-oriented contributions that reflect current directions in the study of speech development, the effectiveness of early interventions, and educational technologies.

The issue comprises two sections — Research ASD and Teaching Experience. The Research ASD section includes studies addressing key cognitive and speech-related mechanisms in ASD. The article by M. Adilzhanova and O. Illarionova examines the development of verb vocabulary and prefrontal synthesis in preschool children with ASD. The paper by V. Berezutskaya presents a review of quasi-experimental studies on the effectiveness of the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM).

The Teaching Experience section features materials aimed at addressing practical challenges in the education and support of children with ASD. It discusses approaches to the development of life competencies in primary school children in resource classroom settings (A. Sankova, S. Rusinova), as well as methods for enhancing parental competence through specialised training programmes (T. Lukovenko, V. Shovkun).

The issue finalizes with a press release on the 10th All-Russian Inclusive Festival #LudiKakLudi dedicated to World Autism Awareness Day (2 April).
