On March 26 at 16:00 (Moscow time), an online webinar “The Role of Sociocultural Values in Psychological Support of Students” will be held as part of the discussion platform “Science in Publications: From Idea to Practice” , with the support of the MSUPE “Boiling Point” platform.
The speakers will address various aspects of the counseling process, taking into account the cultural specificity of students within the context of contemporary Russian higher education.
The following questions will be discussed:
- cultural specificity of counseling practice in modern Russian psychological counseling;
- organization of group work with newly arrived international students and the specifics of individual counseling requests related to adaptation;
- practical aspects of working with different student groups, including engagement as a working tool in counseling, as well as features of engagement in counseling with international and Russian students;
- sensitivity to a client’s personal narrative as a means of understanding their values and hopes, and identifying resources to support preferred outcomes.
The webinar will be of particular interest to psychologists and heads of university psychological services, as well as all professionals providing counseling in multicultural environments.
