On April 6, 2026, a meeting of the “Co-Authored Reading” reading club will take place as part of the “Science in Publications” series. The topic of the meeting is “Coping Behavior of Convicted Individuals: On the Potential of Social Identity Theory”.

The discussion will focus on how social identity theory helps to understand the mechanisms of adaptation to stress among convicted individuals in correctional facilities. Encountering the penitentiary environment activates the search for significant groups, and if identification is formed with criminally oriented communities, this affects the logic of coping behavior. Such features of stress-coping strategies negatively affect subsequent resocialization and create barriers to rehabilitation.

The webinar is primarily intended for psychologists, educational psychologists, employees of the penal system, and specialists in the field of post-penitentiary probation.
