The new issue of the journal "Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy" (2026 # 2) includes articles grouped into two sections. The issue opens with the section titled «Testing and Validating Instruments».
The first article in this section is dedicated to the development of a new methodology, for which there are no analogs in our country or abroad. The authors —S.V. Chigarikova, G.U. Soldatova, and S.N. Ilyukhina — developed a quantitative method for assessing the level of digital well-being of an individual — the Digital Well-Being Index. The article emphasizes the undeniable influence of digital well-being on the overall well-being of young people in the digital age, which underpins the practical significance of developing such a survey tool.
The second article in this section is dedicated to the validation of a foreign methodology — the Modified Avoidance Behavior Questionnaire in Fear of Falling (authors — T.K. Konovalchik and O.Y. Strizhitskaya). This questionnaire will be useful for specialists working with elderly people and aims to help find a balance between reasonable caution and pathological avoidance of activity caused by this fear.
The section «Empirical Research» includes seven articles.
The article by I.M. Kadirov, A.A. Oksimets, and E.S. Duny analyzes psychoanalytic work with a case centered on the phenomenon of resentment. The rich phenomenological material presented in the article confirms once again that any personal characteristics that hinder the internalization of the problem make therapy ineffective.
The article by A.V. Kotelnikova, S.M. Yeremushkina, M.G. Kiseleva, and L.D. Syrkin explores the internal representation of illness in patients with spinal diseases of varying severity. The authors convincingly demonstrate the importance of psychological work with such patients, where adherence to long-term treatment and rehabilitation measures plays a key role in successful therapy.
The article by O.V. Almazova, D.A. Bukhaleenkova, and A.V. Chursina discusses the role of attachment to the mother in the development of regulatory functions in preschool and early school-age children. The authors convincingly prove the vital role of affect in the development of intelligence, a point also emphasized by L.S. Vygotsky.
The next article in the section addresses the role of adolescent friendship. E.N. Volkova, A.A. Orlova, and G.V. Sorokoumova empirically confirm that friendship acts as a protector against self-harming behavior in adolescents — one of the most vivid manifestations of mental health issues in the modern digital world.
The following three articles focus on equally актуальные problems of modern motherhood and childhood — an increase in pregnancy complications and children with developmental deviations (Y.E. Leushina and colleagues), the emotional state of mothers of children with developmental disabilities (I.A. Zolotova), and social adaptation and rehabilitation of children with developmental disabilities who have already grown up (M.Yu. Gurin, D.A. Pashchikov, N.A. Maltsova).
