The Main Motives of Internet Communication in the Views of Modern Youth
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of motivation for communication on the Internet. The basis for determining the motives was the ideas of modern youth about this form of communication. The material for the analysis was data from a study that was conducted from March to June 2024 and was aimed at studying young people’s ideas about the need for communication on the Internet, its distinctive features in comparison with communication in person, the attractive side of communication on the Internet and specific reasons for stopping such communication. The survey in the form of a free description was carried out both in the presence of an interviewer in the audience and using Internet resources. Data interpretation was performed using thematic analysis tools. The publication also provides a theoretical analysis of the main areas of research on Internet communication, its types, and the reasons for activity on the Internet.
