Psychological Science and Education Influence of Ethnocultural Specifics of the Educational Institute on the Formation of Students' Ego-Identity 714Minakova E.A. Abstract
The article is dedicated to the problem of migrants' adaptation and assimilation into a new social and cultural context. At the present time this problem doesn't have a clear (univocal) socio-psychological solution. The article describes different types of educational institutions from the point of view of their effectiveness in helping immigrant children integrate and assimilate into the new ethnocultural environment. The article also presents the results of pilot study that was carried out in Moscow schools in 2006 among students of 10th–11th grades in schools with ethnocultural component in education and students of the same grades in usual comprehensive schools. Research objective was to study influence of the educational institution characteristics on formation of ego-dentity of migrant students and their attitude to the surrounding environment (Moscow city and their school).
