Age Dynamics of Activity Related Emotional Experience in Adolescents

The article presents results of a study on activity related emotional experience in adolescents, its age specifics and interindividual differences. The study draws upon the theoretical concept developed by L. S. Vygotsky and his disciples referring to the correlation between one's needs and emotional experiences in the critical periods of personality development. The inventory of activity-related emotional experience (ODOP), which had previously been approved on a sample of adolescents from Dubna city, was used and partly improved during the research. The study was carried out in three Moscow schools among the students of 6— 10 grades (a total of 285 subjects). The outcomes provided enough data to describe the age-specific changes in the hierarchy of needs related to the main types of activities in adolescence, as well as to analyse the individual diversity of these changes. As it is concluded, the developed inventory, which is based on the principle of comprehensive analysis of emotional experience, opens the possibility of operationalising the problem of age dynamics of motivational sphere and leading activity in adolescence.
