Introduction to the existential psychodrama

The article presents a part of the book «Исцеление терапевтическим театром. Опыт экзистенциальной психодрамы» (Therapeutic Theatre As A Curing Instrument. Existential Psychodrama Experience) by K. Loren. The author states that this kind of treatment is possible and examines its factors. K.Loren proposes several methods like dramatizing of the future that helps to clarify personal goals. Dramatizing short stories based on individual scripts leads to identification with desirable roles. New dimensions and perspectives of K.Loren's approach help client to manage the basic existence anxiety, the fear to stay under the power of negative experience in childhood forever. They give a person an opportunity not only to chose his future freely but also to chose one’s own way, to stop feeling a determined and predictable character. The role-playing games used by the author help to escape from the fear of future, outdated parent prohibitions that distort adult life, negative states.
