Personality of a professional on different stages of the career

1917

Abstract

Personal qualities of specialists studied at different stages of their professional career are discussed in the article (in “man-technology” occupations). The studied set comprised the employees of Moscow Metro: assistant train drivers and train drivers. The train driver career is characterized by compulsory two stages and limited further promotion. According to the results of the study, volitional qualities, directedness to the content of professional activity and positive self-appraisal specify the first stage. At the second (and, as a rule final) stage, the specialists may be characterized by higher intelligence. However they are less motivated by the content of their activity, and the importance of social communication in the process of their activity becomes greater.
