Reaction time in the system of study of the nature of intelligence and special abilities

Abstract

The paper describes the results of a large cycle of studies of the association of rate of differentiation of stimuli (using the method of speeded classification) with intelligence, academic performance, special abilities, cognitive differentiation characteristics of intellectual and personal development, conducted within the framework of a systemic-structural approach (Chuprikova N. I., Kholodnaya M. A.), which may further contribute to the solution of questions about the biological bases of individual differences in mental abilities. In contrast to H. Eysenck, who considers biological intelligence as a mere speed of nerve impulses in the neural circuits, this concept considers the discriminative ability of the brain as the biological basis of intelligence.
