Abstract

The article inquiries into the question of trustworthiness. To be specific, this article is devoted to the question of justification of Plungyan’s thesis. V.A. Plungyan considered contemporary linguistics to be corpus-based linguistics. The author of the article has chosen British National Corpus as a target of research. Study corpus’ general characteristics and one of the most useful lexical item – ring – gives an opportunity to show up both uniqueness and unconvincing of corpus to study/research the language.
