The Role of the Verbal Aspects Category in Expressing L. Tolstoy's Views on the Historical Process (Based on the Material of the Novel «War and Peace»)

The article uses the anthropocentric approach to the description of the grammatical category of the verbs aspects in order to consider how its use contributes to the creation of an image of the world in accordance with the creative intent of the author of the literary text. The main subject of the study is L.N. Tolstoy's novel «War and Peace». Applying the concept situation frame, the researcher analyzes how the writer overcomes the fragmentary image of events inherent in human thinking and creates a global view of the course of history as a linking of numerous actions of characters acts the background of a historical panorama. The article shows the specific choice of perfect and imperfect verbs in the novel, contributing to the creation of such an image of the historical process.
