Abstract

The object of analysis is the multifunctionality of both individual punctuation marks and their combinations in a poetic text, which form a combined structure. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the choice of certain punctuation marks based on the specific features of a poetic text and the individual author's approach to revealing its inherent meaning. The research material consists of poetic texts by various authors, which reveal both the general and the author's subjective choices of punctuation marks, which are influenced by both intonation and structural-semantic factors. Special attention is given to the use of the question mark in rhetorical statements, as well as the use of periods to mark parcelled constructions. The results of the study demonstrate the potential of punctuation marks as a flexible system and an effective means of expressing the author's intentions.
