Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of qualitative changes in the mental development of children during the transition from younger to older preschool age (chronological age is 5 years). A new stage of systemic organization of mental functions of children 5 years old compared to children of an earlier age was revealed, indicating a high degree of consistency and stability in the work of various parts of functional systems. Data were obtained proving the possibility of dividing preschool age into two phases: from 3 to 5 and from 5 to 7 years.
