Abstract

The article considers professional translation as "interlanguage semantic transformation," as a complex polyfunctional type of intercultural communication. The qualities of speech-making activity characterizing the features of translation thinking are analyzed. It also considers the formation of competencies that are professionally significant for translators - semantic, interpretative and textual. The peculiarities of translation training in our country and in European translation schools are considered separately.
