Diagnosis and new areas of education for "at-risk" children in the United States
Abstract
The main activities of a school psychologist in the US education system are presented. As part of the trend towards individualization of education, it seems most effective to include children with learning difficulties in general education rather than in specialized classes. It is noted that in order to meet the needs of children with different levels of mental development in the United States, a unified approach was adopted in the diagnosis of difficulties in teaching such children, followed by the identification of ways to overcome these difficulties. The steps of the process of assisting students experiencing learning difficulties are described in detail: from diagnosis to the preparation of an individual training plan.
