Social Conditions of Development as a Determinant of Pupils' Attitude towards School

Abstract

The author addresses one of the most important psychological and pedagogical problems in modern schools, the problem of passive pupils. Basing on empirical and theoretical data and on the analysis of social and environmental conditions of learning motivation in pupils, the author shows that developmental opportunities provided by the school are organised in such a way that children's attitude towards school undergoes serious qualitative changes. At the same time, this determines pupils' activity in using the school environment. The study is aimed at reinforcing personcentered approach in education that provides a new way of analysing social and pedagogical situation in schools.
