Specifics of Defensive-Coping Strategies in Connection with Typological Characteristics of the Personality

The interrelation between individual psychological peculiarities of a person was studied in this article. The Myers-Briggs defensive-coping strategies inventory and «LSI» by R. Plutchik and «WCQ» by R. Lazarus were administered to the research sample. The research was carried out on students and graduate students of MCUPE specializing in applied psychology. The sample consisted of 124 students. Results indicate that each of the four meta-types marked by D. Kersey in Myers-Briggs's typology (NT, NS, SJ, and SP) has a specific profile of psychological defense mechanisms. The differences in instrumental coping strategies typical for the mentioned types are less expressed as the differences in psychological defense mechanisms. The results of the research were used in a complex program of consulting and training specialists' training.
