Psychological Characteristics of Motivation for Foster Family Care

Abstract

The authors focus on the problem of family motivation to adopt a child. We discuss the importance of analysis of foster parents’ motivation for diagnosis, preparation and psychological care of such families, describe the importance of the motivation for the formation of expectations of a foster child, the impact on the parent-child relationship, the process of adaptation of the child in the family. We present and analyze Russian and foreign studies on the motivation to adopt a child in the family.
