Abstract

The article regards the types of eye movements (tremor, drift, microsaccades, macrosaccades, tracing movements, vergence eye movements, nystagmus), provides materials on basic eye-tracking methods (contact methods: electrooculography, photo-optical and electromagnetic methods, non-invasive techniques: photo-optical, film and video recording), describes the principles of fixation and saccades detection, the choice of specific indicators for the oculomotor activity analysis (average duration of fixation, first fixation duration, fixation position, amplitude and latency of saccades, duration and frequency of the blink, the indicators related to the allocation of the regions of interest on the image). It shows the most important areas of eye-tracking devices practical application (gaze-controlled computer interfaces for persons with disabilities, medicine, advertising, analysis of the operator's activity).
