In includes multi-axial evaluation of the clinical picture of mental disorders, system neuropsychological analysis of the state of higher mental functions (differentiated evaluation of the higher mental functions maturity level and evaluation of intra-group peculiarities of each function’s condition) and comparative analysis of the higher mental functions maturity profiles in different clinical forms of mental retardation. The article distinguishes neuropsychological peculiarities of the higher mental functions system structure of two clinical forms of mental retardation – retarded and deprived. It shows the similarity of their psychological structure which confirms the legitimate identification of mental retardation as an independent type of dysontogenesis.
