Abstract

The contribution analyzes the influence of certain factors on professional formation of leaders of structural departments of territorial internal affairs bodies: motivation and self-evaluation (in particular, changes in self-evaluation after promotion). It is noted that the main factor in selecting the candidates for promotion is the success in operational activity; however, it’s not always that the employee who works effectively in a specific field can be a good manager. The results of a research showed that the ability to build relationships with the higher authorities leads to promotion more often than the ability to communicate constructively with colleagues.
