Adaptation of the "Light Triad Scale" on a sample of adolescents and young men. May light triad stop malevolent creativity?
Abstract
Context and relevance. The problem of identifying personality characteristics that would embody the personality's characteristic ways of prosocial and antisocial behavior and attitude to the outside world is of great interest to researchers and is important for predicting personality behavior. Objective. Adaptation of the "Light Triade Scale" (LTS) questionnaire on a Russian sample of adolescents and young men. Hypothesis. 1. There is a negative relationship between the traits of the light triad and the components of aggression and antisocial creativity, manifested in behavior that is harmful in interpersonal interaction, and a positive relationship with moral identity and the behavior in which it manifests itself. 2. There are age-related features in the formation of the light triad. Methods and materials. The study involved 228 adolescents and young men, including adolescents (N = 110, M = 17,1, SD = 6,73) and students (N = 118, M = 20,0, SD = 2,35). LTS and moral identity questionnaires were used (adapted by S.N. Enikolopova et al.), BPAQ (adapted by S.N. Enikolopov and N.P. Tsybulsky), self-esteem scale (M. Rosenberg), "Behavioral features of antisocial creativity" (adapted by Meshkova et al.), the "Cooperation" scale ("NEO-FFI" is an abbreviated version of the "NEO PI–R" questionnaire adapted by V. Orl, I. Senin). Results. The confirmatory analysis confirmed the three-factor model of the original version of the questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire is acceptable, and the retest is satisfactory. Based on the available results, it can be concluded that the questionnaire can be used for research purposes with older male adolescents to analyze prosocial personality traits. Conclusions. The adapted version of the Light Triad questionnaire can be used for research purposes on a male sample, including adolescents. The highlighted three-factor structure of the adapted version corresponds to the theoretical provisions of the original version of the questionnaire. The results obtained confirm the presence of age-related features in the expression of the features of the light triad in men and their links to harmful behavior.
