Theoretical aspects of readiness, as the basis of the competence approach in police officers training

Abstract

This paper considers interpretations of readiness provided by personal, functional, system, and personal-activity approaches, and determines the most appropriate one to study professional readiness in law enforcement officers. We demonstrate the necessity of a combined study of readiness and competence-based approach, as it will provide the ability of police officers to implement the acquired knowledge and skills at a high level. We investigate the competence-based approach as the basis for preparation of highly qualified and competitive professionals. On the basis of empirical study, we propose to expand the personal-activity approach to readiness and to call it personal-social-activity in order to comprehensively summarize the competence model of Ukraine law enforcement agencies employee, which he must comply with by carrying out his functional responsibilities. The model consists of three types of key competencies: personal, social and professional.
