Abstract

Context and relevance. Psychological resilience is one of the most important personal qualities that ensure the success of performing official tasks. At the same time, the psychological service of the penitentiary system has not yet fully resolved the issue of diagnostic tools that allow it to quickly obtain reliable data on the psychological stability of employees. The theoretical basis of the study was P. Bartone's model, according to which psychological resilience is an integrative characteristic of a personality and includes three components: engagement, control, and challenge. Objective. To verify the reliability and validity of the Russian-language version of the Dispositional Resilience Scale (DRS-15), as well as to identify the relationship between dispositional psychological resilience and neuropsychiatric stability (an indicator of mental health and stress tolerance). Hypothesis. The DRS-15 questionnaire has a three-factor structure (scales of engagement, control, challenge); indicators of dispositional psychological resilience act as predictors of the neuropsychiatric stability of UIS employees. Methods and materials. The study involved 786 UIS employees aged 20 to 55 years (33 ± 7). The methods used were the “Dispositional Resilience Scale” (DRS-15) (P. Bartone, Russian version by P.A. Kislyakov and E.A. Shmeleva), “Hardiness Survey” (S. Muddy, abbreviated Russian version by E.N. Osin, E.I. Rasskazova), “Forecast-2” (V.Yu. Rybnikov). Results. The psychometric characteristics of the Russian-language version of the DRS-15 questionnaire confirmed its three-factor structure, reliability, consistency, and validity. Based on the data obtained, a characteristic of the dispositional resilience of employees of the penal correction system is presented in terms of a sense of involvement in the events of everyday life and professional activity, a sense of control and openness to changes and life challenges. It is shown that dispositional (psychological) resilience acts as a predictor of stress tolerance and a preventive factor of nervous breakdowns. Conclusions. The technique can serve as a diagnostic tool in the work of psychologists with employees of special purpose departments and departments for escorting territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, as well as be used in other law enforcement agencies.
