Image of Enemy in Interpersonal Communication

2254

Abstract

The paper presents results of a research on the construction of the image of the enemy in interpersonal communication. As it is described, this image has a stable 'core', and the combination of social psychological relationships embraced in the 'core' and 'periphery' reflects the main feature of the image of the enemy: that is, the reciprocity of the character, of the modality of the attitudes between the individual and the enemy. Social psychological relationships comprised in the images of the male enemy and female enemy give evidence that one's identification of the Other as the enemy is carried out upon a stable set of attitudes.
