Experiences of Loneliness among High School Students in Different Social Situations of Development

2264

Abstract

The article discusses a study on the dynamics of subjective feelings of loneliness in three categories of male subjects: young males with musculoskeletal disorders, normally developed high school students living with parents, and young orphans. The social situations of devel¬opment in these three categories of young people differ in the rates of separation from par¬ents ¬ accelerated in the orphans and delayed in the subjects with musculoskeletal disorders. The study focused on the dominating type of loneliness and the changes in the subjects' expe¬riences of loneliness (pre¬crisis, crisis and post¬crisis phases) starting from the age of 15. The outcomes suggest that the dynamics and psychological aspects of the feeling of loneliness during the period of youth crisis depend mostly on the features of the young people's social situation of development.
