The Meaning of Voice for the Process of Interiorization

Abstract

Within a dialogical framework where language is understood as constituted by the adress and reply of speaking and listening individuals, language as perceived and adressed form is the focus of interest. The realization of this very form is seen in the uttered and listened voice. Referring to notions of voice in Vološinov and Bakhtin on the one hand, and to actual conceptions from dialogical psychology (Hermans & Dimaggio 2004) on the other hand, the contribution develops a psycholinguistic notion of voice which can be fruitful in understanding the process of interiorization.
