Classification of Empirical Research in Psychology

Abstract

An analysis of 82 PhD theses (short versions) on psychology is done in the paper. As a result of analysis the classifi cation of typical empirical investigation designs is elaborated. Th e classifi cation includes fi fe types of designs: descriptive, inductive correlation study, deductive correlation study, experimental, and the elaboration and approbation of manipulation methods. Th e logic of each design is described, as well as the main problems and diffi culties, with which researchers are met in the realization of the design.
