The PsyJournals.ru portal presents the results of its annual reader interest ranking — the Top 20 articles in psychology and education journals for 2025. The ranking is based on the Reader Interest Index (RII), an integrated indicator reflecting readers’ engagement with scholarly publications on the portal (views and downloads of full texts).
In 2025, the absolute leader of the ranking was an article by T.A. Egorenko, A.V. Lobanova, and D.V. Chumachenko, devoted to the standardization of the Russian-language version of the Phillips School Anxiety Test (RII — 10,506). High positions in the ranking were also held by works addressing trauma and post-traumatic disorders, psychometric validation of diagnostic instruments, stress and coping, as well as psychological safety in the educational environment.
The top ten articles in the ranking include:
- psychodiagnostic instruments (standardization, adaptation, and validation of questionnaires and tests);
- studies on the consequences of traumatic experience and methods of psychotherapy (PTSD, EMDR);
- reviews of contemporary research areas (video games and cognitive processes, sibling relationships).
An analysis of the Top 20 ranking reveals several stable trends in reader interest:
- Demand for assessment tools. A significant portion of the ranking consists of publications presenting or analyzing diagnostic methods (school anxiety, stress, well-being, emotional intelligence, and intellectual development).
- High demand for clinical and counseling topics. Issues related to trauma, complex PTSD, sexual violence, autism, and decision-making difficulties consistently rank among the most widely read.
- Interest in education-related issues. The ranking includes articles on psychological safety in an educational environment, psychological outreach and education, learning difficulties, and the standardization of assessment methods for children and adolescents.
The distribution of ranked publications across journals also deserves special attention. The strongest concentration of reader interest is demonstrated by journals focusing on clinical and counseling topics: three articles in the Top 20 are published in the journals Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy, Clinical and Special Psychology, and Modern Foreign Psychology.
Journals focused on legal and educational psychology also demonstrate a stable presence in the ranking: two articles in the Top 20 are published in the journals Psychology and Law, Psychological and Pedagogical Research, and Psychological Science and Education.
The remaining positions in the ranking are represented by journals with one publication each: The Bulletin of The Practical Psychology of Education, Extreme Psychology and Personal Safety, Experimental Psychology, Autism and Developmental Disorders, and Social Psychology and Society.
The “Top 20 Articles Readers’ Choice” ranking complements traditional bibliometric indicators by making it possible to identify the actual interests of the professional community in research topics, methods, and findings. These data are used by the portal and journal editorial teams to analyze reader demand, plan thematic issues, and develop digital scholarly communication services.
A comparison with the results of 2024 shows that in 2025 the ranking maintains continuity while shifting its emphasis. A shift in dominant demand can be observed from problem-oriented theoretical publications toward instrument-oriented studies that support reproducibility and applied verifiability. At the same time, the effect of sustained leadership and the preservation of a stable thematic core of reader interest are evident: psychodiagnostics in an educational context and evidence-based clinical and counseling research on trauma continue to serve as key “centers of attraction” for the portal’s professional audience.
