Psychologically Important Qualities of Child Welfare Specialists Discussed at the “Science in Publications” Discussion Platform

On February 11, a webinar titled “Psychologically Important Qualities of Child Welfare Specialists” was held as part of the discussion platform “Science in Publications: From Idea to Practice”.

Veronika N. Oslon Candidate of Sciences (Psychology), presented the results of a study involving 2036 Child Welfare Specialists and managers. She also introduced a six-factor model of psychologically important professional qualities.

The structure of these qualities includes:

  1. client-centered values and professionalism;
  2. communication and analytical skills;
  3. client interaction skills;
  4. quality of oral speech;
  5. psychological resilience;
  6. professional integrity.

Among the predictors (key characteristics supporting and developing core professional competencies), the following were identified:

  1. emotional intelligence;
  2. subjective well-being;
  3. procedural self-efficacy;
  4. ability to cope with uncertainty;
  5. intrinsic professional motivation.

All qualities and their predictors were discussed in detail during the webinar.
