Substantial Values in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

0

Abstract

The article raises the issue of the possible influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the system of substantial (the most important, significant, defining human identity) values. The main substantial values are considered to be safety, life, freedom, human identity, subjectivity, creativity, individuality, collectivism, family values, comfort, and pleasure. It was revealed that only safety experiences a significant negative impact from AI; however, feeling a threat to their own safety, people begin to value it more highly, which means that the value also develops. The remaining substantial values evolve progressively under the influence of AI, do not experience real threats, and begin to be valued more highly by society. AI helps a person monitor their health; in medicine, it helps to preserve life; frees a person from routine activities; encourages greater appreciation of one's own identity, subjectivity, and creativity; through personalization of services, it contributes to the development of individuality; through communication technologies, it helps to develop communication and interaction in a team and in a family; makes everyday life more comfortable; helps to enjoy it. The conclusion is drawn about the need to look more openly and optimistically at the value transformations taking place in the era of AI.
