Psychological Security of High School Students in Situations of Communication with Classmates and Teachers

Abstract

The work is aimed at an empirical study of the psychological security of high school students in communicating with classmates and teachers. The hypothesis was tested that high school students feel more protected when communicating with teachers than when communicating with classmates. The study involved 85 high school students of 10th and 11th grades of Vladimir city, aged 16 to 18 years. The questionnaire “How protected do you feel at school?” was used. A high level of safety when communicating with classmates and teachers was demonstrated by 48.2% of high school students, an average level by 35.3%, and a low level by 16.5%. The hypothesis was not confirmed, since differences in the safety of high school students when communicating with classmates and with teachers turned out to be statistically insignificant. The exception was the position “Against being forced to do something against your wishes,” when assessing which high school students felt more protected in communicating with classmates than with teachers. The study confirms that the problem of psychological security in schoolchildren’s communication continues to remain relevant, which indicates the need to continue this research.
