Abstract

Context and relevance. The motivation of foster parents to interact with support services is the basis for the prevention of secondary orphanhood. The theoretical foundations of the study are the model of motivational counseling and the principles of psychological prevention. Objective. Proof of the effectiveness of the correctional program for motivating foster parents to actively participate in interaction with support services. Hypothesis. The cooperation of foster parents with support services significantly changes their attitude towards the child. Methods and materials. The programme was implemented on the basis of State Public Service Social Services Institution of Rostov region in the Donetsk Center for children left without parental care. The pilot study involved 32 foster parents (27 mothers and 5 fathers). As psycho-diagnostic tools the method “Parent-child interaction” (by I.M. Markovskaya) and “Test-questionnaire of parental relationship” (Parenting questionnaire by A.J. Varga and V.V. Stolin) were used. Results. The developed and tested correctional program significantly increases emotional acceptance of the child by foster parents. Conclusions. It is shown that as a result of the formation of foster parents' motivation to cooperate with support services, the attitude towards the foster child changes, and the level of productive interaction in the family increases.
