Abstract

The cross-cultural research on reconstruction of semantic spaces in three cultures with different languages is described. The article presents the results of research and reconstruction of semantic space at the example of one colour. The reconstruction is based on scientific literature review and empirical research data (associative experiment) carried out on English-, Russian- and German-speaking samples. That included 456 respondents aged from 20 to 65. The data obtained adjust with the hypothesis of sameness of meanings in the core of semantic space in different cultures and existence of culturally-specific meanings of colours at its periphery that reflect cultural-historical development of each nation.
