Abstract

The paper presents an excerpt from a study of personally important choice. The concept of personally important choice is defined. A case study of a counselling process is used to test a hypothesis that value serves as a meaningful basis for making a personally important choice. The principal stages of counselling work are presented with special emphasis on the turning point in the process of making a vitally important decision. The concept of "value insight" is proposed.
