Psychoanalytic infant observation by esther bick's method: contemporary aims and perspectives

Abstract

The article discusses the current state of the infant observation method developed by the famous British psychoanalyst Esther Bick. The experience of its development and use in the world, including Russia, is discussed. The role of the method in the development of modern psychoanalytic theory, understanding the aspects of the early development of the inner psychic reality of the child, the primary formation of body image are studied. Particular attention is given to the importance of the method for the early prevention of severe mental disorders in young children, including autism , and psychological support of children with early developmental problems. The possibilities of the method as a special form of child psychotherapy are observed.
