On the Results of the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference «Law and Mental Health: How to Reach Consensus»

The article summarizes the results of the All–Russian Scientific and Practical Conference «Law and Mental Health: How to Reach Consensus», organized by the Union for Mental Health, the Foundation for the Development of the Heritage of Professor Treushnikov «The Way with the Law» and Kutafin Moscow State Law University, held on 21 October 2022. An important place in the article is given to the section «Legal regulation of psychiatric care». During the work of the section, the need to update legal aspects of providing psychiatric care was actively discussed, since the Law «On Psychiatric Assistance and Guaranty of the Rights of Citizens to Whom It Is Granted» was adopted in Russia 30 years ago. The section «Legal regulation of psychological aid» also attracted increased attention of the professional community, as it considered the current situation related to the promotion of the legislative proposal «On Psychological Aid» in the Russian Federation, the development and discussion of which has been going on for few years. Also, this section considered the ethical aspects of psychological aid and their relations with the legal aspects of its provision. The article raises the issue of the urgent need to improve the competence of psychologists in the field of professional ethics, and as such means it considers the «Ethical Code of the Student Psychologist», developed and followed at the Faculty of Counseling and Clinical Psychology of the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education.
