Abstract

Relevance. While defining the role of psychoeducation as targeted training for patients with mental disorders to independently navigate disease-related subject areas that are important for treatment and rehabilitation, the authors emphasize the need to modify programs based on the characteristics of the target patient group. The aim: provide a theoretical and practical justification for an innovative psychoeducation program for the inpatient treatment of patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSDs). Results. Arguments in favor of the early initiation of psychorehabilitative work with patients with SSD are presented, along with results of a comparison between the authors’ developed program and traditional psychoeducational interventions across various parameters (such as goals, setting features, session structure, etc.). The advantages of the new program are described, including, in particular, the capacity for patients with a disease duration of over five years to participate. Conclusions. The study of the effectiveness of the innovative psychoeducation program for patients with SSD demonstrated a significant change in patients’ attitudes towards their illness and treatment, a reduction in self-stigmatization, and an increase in compliance.
