Abstract

Objective. The article analyzes materials obtained from the study of processes arising in intra-familial relations after a child suffers a severe injury. Methods and materials. The study involved 27 families with children aged 5–17 years undergoing rehabilitation for 3 months to 1 year after a severe traumatic brain injury or injury due to bleeding or hypoxia. The study was conducted as part of clinical case analysis, including collection of information using a specially designed protocol. Changes in family interactions immediately after the incident and during recovery over a year were revealed. Results. Common trends were identified and described in different families with similar conditions, which may affect the child`s psychological adjustment and overall recovery. The key factors and variables that need to be considered within the framework of psychological work with families and children during the rehabilitation period have been highlighted.
