Abstract

The article deals with the drama of a starry-eyed man, a dreamer, daydreaming not about exploits, about glory, but of a peaceful family life surrounded by friends in the bosom of Russian nature. This man is a young nobleman, the owner of the state, which allows him to carry out his wishes, but an obstacle arises in his lack of will, inability to work in any of its form as a result of upbringing in the conditions of serfdom. This is what makes him the "superfluous" person.
