"HOW SWEET IT IS TO DIE!" The death of Gogol as a testament to his descendants. Article 2

656

Abstract

The article reconstructs the events of the last days of Gogol's life (1-21 February 1852: The Maslenaya Week, the first and the beginning of the second week of Lent). Only in the light of Gogol's church world outlook his behavior in the days of death becomes understandable. The interpretation of the litter on the margins of the Bible belonging to Gogol is offered: "Demand" against the words of St. Apostle Paul: "... I have a desire to be dissolved and to be with Christ ..." (Phil. 1: 23).
