The work of understanding
Abstract
The author highlights the work of understanding as a special phenomenon. It occurs in two opposite situations. In the first case, symbolic meanings are translated into the language of meaning. In the second, when it is necessary to transfer meaningful knowledge to a communication partner, the opposite procedure occurs - meaning meaning. The author distinguishes between the following types of understanding: natural and creative. The article also looks at the close interplay of understanding, remembering, and learning.
