Contemporary Studies of Loneliness

Abstract

The article reviews studies in psychology of loneliness and characterises the main modern research tendencies. It explores the main theories and hypotheses concerning loneliness put forward both by Russian and foreign researchers at the end of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st. The aspects of studying loneliness within the framework of developmental psychology, social psychology, psychology of creativity and psychosemantics are given as well.
