Empirical research of parent's attitude structure

Abstract

Article presents research results on problem of definition and justification an individual parent's attitude structure. The applied approach puts into the focus personality of a parent, its development in the process of parent role exploration. 59 families with preschool age children have participated in the study. To study the structure of parent's attitude the following methods were used: T.Leary's test, personality differential, PARI (Parent Attitude Research Instrument: measurement of parent dispositions and reactions), modified family sociogram, "Figures" test and "Uncompleted sentences". Results indicate the main components of parent attitude structure: need motivational,value semantic, emotional, evaluative and behavioral. They are connected with personality components: emotional, cognitive spheres, personality directedness and activity. Gender differences are described: central component for maternal attitude is emotional, and for paternal attitude is behavioral.
