Strategies for Overcoming the Learning Difficulties for Students in Distance Learning Programs

Abstract

The results of quantitative study on self-organization of students enrolled in the Bachelor of Psychology program at the Faculty of Distance Learning at Moscow State University of Psychology and Education are presented in the article. The paper describes the organization of educational process and the criteria for the typology of students, on the basis of which the strategies for overcoming the learning difficulties are presented. The analysis of the preferred strategies depending on the parameters of the dominant cognitive style is presented. The most effective strategies for overcoming learning difficulties are identified in terms of academic achievement. The aim of this study was to determine the preferred strategy depending on the cognitive style, to highlight the most effective strategies in terms of academic performance and to prepare the educational recommendations for students. The sample consisted of 66 students from first to seventh semester at the age of 18 to 50 years.
